Lene Lekše (1995, Ljubljana, Slovenija ); Leta 2018 je diplomirala na Akademiji za likovno umetnost v Ljubljani, smer kiparstvo. V času študija se je eno leto v okviru izmenjave šolala na Nizozemskem, na Akademiji Minerva v Groningenu. Je dobitnica dveh priznanj ALUO in štipendijstka MOL-a. V okviru društva SLON od leta 2014 vodi delavnice animiranega filma za otroke. Od leta 2018 skupaj z Laro Reichmann, Mihaelom Novakom, Nino Goropečnik in Mašo Knapič v okviru projekta Galerija 7:069, organizira študentske razstave po Sloveniji.
Lene Lekše (°1995, Ljubljana, Slovenia) makes sculptures, films and mixed media artworks. By taking daily life as subject matter while commenting on the everyday aesthetic of middle class values, Lekše makes works that can be seen as self-portraits. Her sculptures are saturated with obviousness, mental inertia, clichés and bad jokes. They question the coerciveness that is derived from the more profound meaning and the superficial aesthetic appearance of an image. Play is a serious matter: during the game, different rules apply than in everyday life and even everyday objects undergo transubstantiation.
Her works isolate the movements of humans and/or objects. By doing so, new sequences are created which reveal an inseparable relationship between motion and sound. By questioning the concept of movement, she finds that movement reveals an inherent awkwardness, a humour that echoes our own vulnerabilities.
Her works are characterised by the use of everyday objects in an atmosphere of middleclass mentality in which recognition plays an important role.
